What happened to the old Democrat Party?

I remember a time when Democrats had a pair and when they were just as good as the Republicans of that day. One of my forefathers was a WWII veteran and he was a Democrat. He fought because he loved his country and he liked the military. He, and the other WWII veterans, would be sickened by the present day Democrats, who are becoming dangerously left and who protest our troops when they are doing more than the pansy protesters. He would be sickened at how politicians and the media are trying to control war, which they know nothing about. He would beat the crap out of losers such as Harry Reid (told the military, "You're risking your lives for nothing"), John Murtha (called the Haditha Marines “cold-blooded” murderers and condemned them as guilty without a trial), Dick Durbin (compared the US military to Nazis) And that was a time when the military did not take orders from no-nothing politicians, the American left (Communist Party), and the ACLU.

What happened to the old Democrat Party?
Unfortunately, until recently we've seen uber liberals in charge of the Democratic party and neocons in charge of the Republican party. Unhealthy for both. As we move toward the center once again I believe both parties will see the err of their ways and reform. Give it time.
Reply:Sold out. You heard moveon.org say "It's our party now, we've bought and paid for it."
Reply:John Kerry...that's what happened. Ever since, the once great Democratic party has subscribed to opposition tactics. If the Republicans are for it then in some shape, way, or form, they must be against it. Ever since, this has been their political tactic. Ever since, they have been whatever is best for the DNC rather than the USA!

Shame on their leaders...Palosi, Dean, Kennedy, and Kerry!

JFK is probably smacking his head harder than when Teddy drove into and ran from the Chappaquiddick River while that poor girl drowned!
Reply:Sure. Back in the day, Democrats started wars (Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy), created policies of interventionism (Wilson) and bombed the crap out of Japan (Truman).

It seems the interventionist mindset moved over to a new kind of Republican and the Democrats turned into who knows what. It's like they have John Lennon music piped into their heads 24x7, but they couldn't spell 'economics' with a dictionary in front of them.

Really, the course of the Iraq war would have been much the same under Bush or Clinton. The Dems right now are shouting from the rooftops to tar President Bush with a bad economy (strongest decade in 50 years), failure in Iraq (based on hyper-repetition of every negative incident) and anything else they can dream up.

They managed to dupe people into handing them Congress, but people now see what a load of manure it was. Lowest approval rating for Congress ever.
Reply:The old Democratic party still exists in the South. Northern Neo-Socialist Progressive Liberals bought the party lock, stock and barrel. Communist money is now funding the Democratic party just ask George Soros. Money talks and all Democrats toe the line or it's no money for them! It's like the old time mafia, solidarity or death. That's the current Democratic party. And the party line has nothing to do with whats good for America. Only whats good for the Democrats.
Reply:They are still here. Just the very radical liberals get all the headlines. To say all Democrats believe in the crap you are spouting is like saying all Republicans are as far right as Rush Limbaugh. Not happening. Bush didn't get elected by all Republicans bucko.
Reply:It was sold to Boeing and Wal-Mart.
Reply:I totally agree. Sadly, Republicans have sunk similarly, but not as far.
Reply:The republican party has turned into the old democratic party and the democratic party has turned into the new communist party.
Reply:Its now the republican party.
Reply:I used to have respect for the democrats even if I did not agree with their policies...now I stare is shock at what they have become. I am angered most when they try to claim past members of MY party as their own as well. Both parties have evolved and changed, but people should not try to claim the successes of the other party as their own.
Reply:They learned that it is OK to question your government and still be patriotic. Something that Republicans do not know. As a Democrat and a veteran, I gladly served my country and fought for what I believe is a great country. But, with that being said the greatness of America is that citizens are FREE to THINK and FEEL however they want. Any Democrat would be willing to go to war for a just cause...just find a just cause in Iraq and the people will be behind it. The problem is there is no just cause for the US to be in Iraq. If the Democrats were saying get the troops out of Afghanistan then that is something different. There is a just cause for Us to be in Afghanistan, not Iraq.

I also will remind you that the US had pledged not to enter WWII, but entered after the bombing of Pearl Harbor...see a just cause.
Reply:They are moving to the NWO. Just like the Republicans the only major difference between them now is how to get there. Their goals are the same.

One example that comes to mind is the Illegal immigration bill. One wants to give out working permits, the other Amensty. In the end it will be giving illegals a legal pass to stay America.

It's in the action and final out comes that we see they are much a like. Further more they are both purchased and paid for by the drug companies.
Reply:Died with JFK. Now they are flat out socialists at home and appeasers abroad.
Reply:Who knows?
