note that 'forest pansy' is the CULTIVAR name of the plant....

define cultivar....

A cultivar is a cultivated plant that has been selected and given a unique name because it has desirable characteristics (decorative or useful) that distinguish it from otherwise similar plants of the same species. When propagated it retains those characteristics.

so they do have the same 'scientific name' for them because they're the same plant, just one has been specially bred for a special thing about it.. the Pansy.....
Reply:Cercis occidentalis, Western Redbud, or Forest Pansy

Cercis canadensis, Eastern Redbud, or Judas tree

There are many cultivated varieties of Cercus in many new colors.
