Are pansies a perrinial flower?

No; pansies are annuals, although they do handle cold very well. A near relative, the Johnny Jump-up (actually the plant from which present-day pansies were originally bred) is hardy, and will come up year after year. For hybrid pansies, however, it's best to buy new plants each year.

in most climates they are annuals. Only in warmer regions are they available to grow all year.

Reply:i live in Wisconsin. once in a while a pansy will make it thru the winter. i don't know why
