Am I the only one who gets critizised for playing Ultimate Frisbee in my school by my friends?

I play ultimate frisbee in my school and am a second string varsity player

but when i encourage my friends to play with me, they label it as a "Pansy Sport" and a "club hobby"

i just wanted to know if i was the only one, and why this happens

Don't change what you are doing for anyone. You are doing what you love. Someday those people will grow up---give them 20 years or so. What you are going through is called growing pains. Just let them be. This is very common to.
Reply:LOL Report It
Reply:my answer was better Report It
Reply:i freaking love the sport.. if people call it pansy just tell them to come and try and they will find that after about 3 minutes of playing that its harder than it seems. Report It
Reply:No...it's just a sport..why the hell did they make fun of you for playing a sport? You should said em' to see if they can play at all.
Reply:I played utliamte in the 80's in so cal very good cardio sport

as far as the the friends it's probably about the culture they are from. Ignorance is probably at play as well
Reply:the problem is the name of the game

change it to "extreme frisbee"...get some oakley goggles, drink some mountain dew

the girls will come running

worked for me with ping pong
Reply:Cause you probably are
Reply:Hey Man! Who really gives a crap what your friends think! If you enjoy playing Ultimate then you shouldn't worry about it. I love Ultimate and disc golf. Two great games. Just ignore them.
Reply:Well my friend. I don't know too much about Ultimate....I play Disc Golf myself. but as far as the criticizing goes it's just because it's not a "sport" as some would define it. So the choose to ridicule what they don't know. All I have to say is try going to sites like www.pdga.com or www.dga.com and you can find communities in there that support and try to encourage others to play the sport.
