How long to wait before using Miracle Grow?

I just planted pansies and impatients in containers from starter plants, do I need to wait a period of time before using Miracle Grow on them or can I use it right away? Any info is much appreciated. Thanks!

I always water in fresh plantings with water soluble fertilizer. many nurseries and greenhouses use it.



Go ahead and feed now. Should be fine.. be sure to mix at the recommended rate.. not stronger!
Reply:thats the wonderful thing about mirace grow you can use it when ever before or after depends on which one your using shake an feed or the ones u mix wiff water if its the one you mix wiff water follow the direction an remember when you first feed it so you can feed it every 14 day at the same time good luck
Reply:I use Miracle Gro right after I plant my flowers. I don't do it again for a while. You have to follow the directions on the package. I mix it in a plastic milk jug with water.

Believe it or not, something seemingly so good for plants (Miracle Gro) is like ADULT food for babies. Give them a chance to get established (esp. since you just transplanted) and then feed them.

Annuals (like pansies and impatiens) are not as hardy as perennials and I would do as others suggested and not exceed the recommended amounts. Don't worry about overdiluting, it's underdilution that can "burn" your little guys.

Reply:The sooner the better...unless you used the potting soil that has Miracle Grow already in it? Otherwise, once a week would do them good...
Reply:It is professionally recommended to allow your plants to settle in for a week or two before using a water soluable chemical fertilizer. If you rush you can cause sever salt burn to the sensitive roots. It is always better to wait a bit.

You can use an organic based like neptune fish fertilizer right away because it takes time to break down before it is available to the plant thus allowing the roots to get settled in

This gives the plant the ability to use the nurtients when it is ready to take them up..
Reply:I use it every time I water. It will depend on your climate and how much sun the plants get but always follow container instructions and don't exceed the amount to add to your water jug.
Reply:you'll think this is crazy, but when you dig the hole for any plant, if you'll coat the hole sides and bottom with a thin layer of the blue granules (wear gloves or you'll look like you just finished off a Smurf) and then plant your flower, shrub or tree, you'll find this will stimulate the roots to begin growth sooner. This is especially helpful for bushed and trees when you want to get that root system established quickly.



the first watering is just water, but give it a good soak. After that water with MG in a hose end sprayer or garden can once a week to keep it growing and fed.
Reply:I usually just mix it in with my soil, so i guess you can use it right away - ask at a garden center if you are not sure. bettyk
Reply:I would suggest using Miracle Grow "Quick Start" when you plant or transplant anything -house plants, annual, perennials, garden veggies, trees, etc. After that, wait about 2 weeks for the plant to adjust and recovery root growth before using other Miracle Grow products.
Reply:You could actually do either or, but if you put the Miracle Grow on it now, then you will have more of a chance they will grow. If you wait ,then it won't work.
