I found an article on her website and I had not thought about it all in this way before. I'd like your opinions too.

What a wonderful quote. I hadn't heard that. She is a wondeful writer. Sadly a lot of girls are made fun of in school if they don't fit a certain image. A girl doesn't even have to "fat" she can be like 5 lbs over from where she thinks that she should be and feel fat. You think about some of those skinny model types at school who think that they are better than everyone else, I agree wih J.K. Rowling I would rather be "fat" than a stupid, mean girl.

Reply:She isn't discussing 'fat' as an insult. She is discussing various flaws that people should work to avoid, and pointing out that flaws of character are worse than flaws of appearance, such as being fat.
