Will they survive?

I live in central Indiana where it has been unseasonably warm so far this spring. Consequently most of my perenial flowers have bloomed, tulips, hyacinths as well as some pansies, etc. Tonight it is forecast to get down into the upper twenties and the same for the rest of the week. Will the flowers survive the freeze or should they be covered and if so with what? Thanks for any advise.

Will they survive?
Try covering the bed with a light colored cotton blanket or quilt. Against a home attach to ground then building. In the open make a tent arrangement. Stake it in the ground as best you can.

Many people use plastic cover. It works but creates high CO levels at night. A deep freeze would be different story. Make sure the roots and stems are properly mulched, the blanket and remove it each morning. You are going to have such nights until May. Good Luck.
Reply:I'm in Illinois and am in the same weather as you. pansies should be OK.. cover the bulbed flowers (tulips, etc) if you can.

this weather really sucks after last week's!
Reply:Better safe than sorry- I would cover them. You can use mulch, pine needles, leafs, etc. I've used newspaper around taller plants. Just remember to uncover everything when the weather gets nice again!
