Are straight effeminate guys going to hell?

1 Corinthians 6:9

Or (A)do you not know that the unrighteous will not (B)inherit the kingdom of God? (C)Do not be deceived; (D)neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor [a]effeminate, nor homosexuals,



This verse clearly separates effeminate from homosexual...so the implication is those straight men that are not manly are effeminate...and going to hell.



It was important in Biblical days to be strong, to be able to protect yourself and provide for your family...so, obviously this was very important to not be a pansy. Eventhough, that was a different time, fundamentalists say we should interpret the New Testament in its literal context.



So, all of those straight guys that sing in the choir each Sunday, are they going to hell? What about a lot of ministers...most of them are not so butch? Heck, I am gay, but I run marathons, play rugby and baseball, and could at one time change the oil in my car...so, no, I am not effeminate...too bad about the gay thing.

Yes I'm going straight to Hell. Heaven is for macho men with bad tempers and little brains.
Reply:It is all about redemption and God's grace. If an effeminate man or a masculine woman, a prostitute, an adulterer, a crackhead, a preacher, a Sunday School teacher, whoever, repents, God will be merciful and forgive him or her. If a person refuses to give up sin, he or she hasn't truly repented and the sin hasn't been forgiven. If a person does repent and ask for God's forgiveness and believes that Jesus died as the penalty for our sin, then we are saved.



It isn't just the people who are pointed out as sinners, it's all of us.

I see no "girly men" mentioned there. people usually misinterpret it. a guy who's a fashion designer? odd, but not sinful. a guy who does ballet? again odd nowadays, but not necessaril sinful. I guy who wears dresses? now they've crossed the line, far over.
