Is America so full of "sissy la las" or "pansies" that we focus more on words than actions?

What happen to the old child hood rhyme... "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me?"



Is what someone says when they are angry and intoxicated more important than the actual crime of DUI?



We Americans are raising our youth to be such weaklings and cry babies, aren't we? The media is inciting racial tension by reporting drunken slurs. The media actually incites hatred and animosity.



They choose who they want you to hate and they go for blood, they incite the mob...

Amen sister!! The liberal left has sissified and wussified the males in this country for far too long under the guise of political correctness. We need more George Pattens and men like those that made this the greatest country in the world.
Reply:How is the media, who is reporting the truth about Mel Gibson's arrest, "inciting" anything? They're just relating what happened -- it was Mel who incited hatred by revealing his true hatred of a whole race of people.

The crime of DUI is certainly a big issue, and he'd better not get special treatment for that. But like it or not, he's a public figure who has spoken out on issues a number of times -- making his statements, sober or drunk, report-worthy.
Reply:Especially in the military , when you can pull out a stress card and keep the D.I . from yelling at you for 15 minutes . What the h-ll is with that ? What are they going to do when the bullets start flying , stand up and pull a stress card and tell the enemy that they have to stop shooting for 15 minutes because they are feeling stressed out . Reply:Ah, some of this is too true. Some is rubbish.

We raise our children to live in a civilized society. Beating someone up or shooting them dead doen't work well right now. It may be assertive and macho, but it will get you thrown in jail.



The media LOVES to tear apart anyone and feed on the scraps. They are Jackels by trade and proud of it.



You seem to be talking about Mel and his drunken tirade. He was stupid drunk and said stupid, evil things. He should be punished for the DUI but if he was not a "Celebrity" no one would give him a second thought.



Price of fame. Make a fool out of yourself and everybody knows.
Reply:While I agree we could all be a bit more thick skinned when it comes to words, racism should never be tolerated period. It was look the other way tolerance that allowed it to continue unabated for so many years. I am relatively sure that many of those KKK clansmen were drunk when they were burning cosses too. Should they be excused for their actions too?
