My pansies were doing well a few days ago, but when I went out this morning they had completly wilted and the blooms had yellowed, and the stalks are all hanging over the side of the pot. It did get up to 80 degrees here for the first time, are they just dying because its too hot out? Any suggestions. Will they be okay if I bring them inside?
Please help me with my pansies?!?
Pansies are cool weather flowers. They don't particularly like heat.
And if you have yours in a pot - it's very easy for them to get dry quickly on a hot day. You should water them every day.
Also - try digging down into the soil after you water. Do you hit dry soil? If so, the soil has gotten so dry the water has a hard time being absorbed into it, and when you water, it is essentially just flowing down the sides and out the bottom. In which case, set your pot in a bucket/bowl of water, and wait until water is absorbed up from the bottom. Once the surface is wet from this bottom-watering, then take the pot out of the bucket, and water normally. Daily.
Reply:I would give them a good watering with Miracle-Gro (fill your watering can with water and stir in 1 tablespoon of Miracle- Gro and stir it into the water).
Reply:Plant them in the ground and water thoroughly. Pinch the flowers off. Don't take them in the house, they do better outside.
