Why did Ohio state schedule pansies like Yorktown, Akron, Kent State, when Duke and Harvard are available?

God what a stinking joke Ohio state football is. My daughter's soccer team plays hard teams. Oh I forget, Ohio state also plays powerhouses like Illinios and Michigan state too. God what a joke Big 10 football is!! No wonder everyone in the south thinks yankees are *******.

YOungstown was a deal done many years ago when OSU hired Tressel. The other 2 schools are on the schedule b/c OSU plays 2 in-state bowl subdivision teams every year on a rotating basis. Last year it was UC andToledo (i think)
Reply:Because they can. Adding a 12th game just has created a much stronger element to the annual Big 10 - MAC challenge. Heck, my alma mater, Illinois, is so desperate to win a Homecoming game that they scheduled Ball State, and I'm surprised they did not choose I-AA Western Illinois for Homecoming.

Scheduling I-AA Youngstown State would likely be a favor to Jim Tressel's former school, which he led to multiple I-AA Championships.

Akron, Kent State, and the rest of the Ohio MAC schools probably dream of the opportunity to play the Buckeyes. The buyout for a one game contract is probably a lot cheaper than what they would have to pay Duke, which loses money from its football program. Frighteningly, most of the MAC is probably better than Duke in football.
