*Baseball: there is much less physical contact than it is in football (soccer), they wear very tights trousers (very gay), most players are overweight and take steroids (that is an INSULT to the world of sport)
*American Football, overweight fattos, tights trousers (gay) they seem to be afraid to get hurt as they overprotect themselves (kind of gay - look at rugby, much tougher and a lot less protection); and again take steroids (INSULT FOR SPORTS EN GENERAL), only run for a some minutes then rest (wussys), and they call it tough?!! Run and rest run and rest run and rest
*NASCAR a sport!!??, and popular in the USA?, that is just ridiculous (hold on, it is very extremely dangerous, but for drivers, not for the people at home) if you watch a car go around and around then you are a puss; and in my opinion it is not a sport (not fully – as the drivers do train physically), what next, u gonna say that golf is a sport?
*Basketball, it is the most popular American sport in the world (I think – I mean a do see people play it in Europe) but, just for freaking tall people. So all you normal-height people can only dream of becoming professional players, coz you are not freaks (only freaks aloud)
*Football(soccer), physical game, wear shorts (nothing gay bout that), run for the full 90 minutes – unlike American football, NOT DRUGS ALOUD, normal people can play it as long that they are fit enough//
*I am not asking which sport is the most entertaining (to most in the world, is soccer), try to answer my question above, and make sense
Why do most Americans think that Football (soccer) is for pansies?
probably because of the oft shown highlight clips of a soccer player being bumped into accidentally and falling over while crying like a baby to draw a foul.
Reply:Because they haven't taken the time to develop and nurture a passion for the game, like Europeans, South Americans, Africans and Asians have. Americans don't need to give a monkeys about soccer because they have their own sports that they've invented and developed - like "football", basketball and baseball. All great sports, by the way.
I don't think it's so much that Americans don't LIKE football...it's just that they don't NEED to like it. But it's the fastest growing team sport in the whole of North America, so it's obviously happening gradually.
Reply:I would rather watch paint dry than watch a bunch of idiots run around kicking each other in the shin. If they would score about 10-15 goals a game it might almost be bearable to watch, but they don't. American sports were created by Americans, for Americans, and we don't give a s h i t if outsiders like them are not. If you like running around aimlessly kicking at small balls, i suggest that you do so in private with your gay lover.
Reply:wow, you insult these sports more than i've ever heard of any american bashing soccer.
maybe you should ask yourself why you hate all the other sports.
and we dont hate soccer, we just don't care about it.
maybe if you stopped gangbanging soccer teams and watched other sports (and not their tight pants, wtf is wrong with you?) then you'd learn to appreciate them.
Reply:You must be European. Let me start by saying I respect all sports but when you start attacking sports because you don’t understand it, well it just means your closed minded and aren't willing to see great athletes exceed in anything but what you like.
Baseball. The most challenging of all sports. The ONLY sport where you have to hit a round object (baseball) that dips, dives, curves, slides, rises and travels about 95 mph, then react 60 feet 6 inches away, giving you .3 sec to react with another round object (bat). Do this successfully 3 out of 10 times and you will be considered one of the best. If you’re looking at there uniform then you might be gay. Soccer might have cool looking jerseys but when I watch sports, the jerseys are the last thing I am looking at. Talk about physical, have you seen Pete Rose run over a catcher in the all star game (an exhibition), or Yankees Sox series? No one is whining and crying on the floor because someone tripped them.
Football. They are the BEST athletes in the world. You call them overweight fattos that can beat you in a 40 yd dash. Most of them were track athletes at one time. Combine that with the strength of a weight lifter and the ability to react quicker than any net minder in soccer, you have the most dominant athlete out there. The reason they wear pads as opposed to rugby players, rugby players are slower and smaller so the impact isn't as severe. Yes they do rest because they give their all every single play; they don’t jog down the wing hoping the ball comes to them.
NASCAR. If you are European do you like Formula 1? If you do it’s the same except for the cars. One is open wheel the other is stock. I don't watch NASCAR, but gun to my head if I had to choose, NASCAR over any soccer. 90 minutes of guys kicking a ball around, now that’s what I call excitement, NOT!
Basketball. This sport you should like since the best players aren't American anymore (Nash 2 times MVP is Canadian). I agree it is a big mans sport but discriminating against anyone is wrong whether short, tall, black, and white. By the way Earl Boykins is listed at 5'5 and is probably more like 5'3, plays in the NBA.
Now Soccer. Where is the physicality? If you touch someone you get carded, 2 and your out. Now if you actually made some good contact you’re tossed after one nice hit. Listen if you like guys running watch a marathon, they at least do it for a lot longer. You say they don’t rest, I notice everyone is still running during corner kicks, penalty kicks and even when the ball is played out, and no subs did I get this right?
On your drug issue. If you are naive enough to believe that all soccer players are clean I have a bridge I want to sell you, maybe you heard of it, it’s in London. There is steroid use everywhere. Athletes looking to get that extra edge are always going to find ways around the system. If you’re rich enough you can find that latest undetectable drug. HGH the most common now is undetectable unless blood is drawn specifically looking for it. Even then you still have to question because the level of hormones is different from person to person.
This makes more sense than your question so please pass it on to anyone who feels the same as yourself.
Reply:I have never once heard that football/soccer is for pansies. It's really growing in popularity in the US, and I have many nieces and nephews that are on teams, as well as some adult friends.
Reply:What a way to gain American favor, by bashing everything.
If you hate our values and ideals, why do you care so much in the first place?
Reply:i luv soccer!!!!!!!! just thinking about it gets my heart pumping! and u r so right, no offence to u football ( American) fans, but the only reson u guys like football ( American) is beacause no one else plays it, it's only american, ur just competeing against urselves so u can't lose, no competion, no passion!soccer on the other hand, is a world wide sport! everyone luvs it , everyone is passionate that's why sumtimes there's small fight, because of their passion!!!!
srry, i respect that u luv smthing, but not for me
Reply:most americans are closed minded and think there opinion is the ultimate so thats my opinion! i love nascar by the way!!!
Reply:WHY EVEN BOTHER ASKING THIS QUESION.
WE AS AMERICANS COULD NOT CARE LESS WHAT THE REST OF THE WORLD THINKS
Reply:I don't think it is for pansies, but just as you mentioned NASCAR I also find it very boring to watch a bunch of guys running around chasing a ball for 90 minutes.
I do love the antics of soccer hooligans though. Can't call those guys pansies.
Follow up to your additional comments:
I don't see American Football as a bunch of guys chasing after a ball. Most plays, at least the ones executed properly, have some sort of action and the blocking/hitting add another dimension. I agree basketball can be a bunch of guys chasing a ball and I generally do not watch much unless it is my favorite college/pro team because I will get bored. Same for hockey.
I appreciate your being an avid soccer fan but I just don't share your passion.
