Do Mavs fans actually think they'll miss Devin Harris?

or that they gave too much to get Kidd. They gave up hardly anyone. Jason Kidd at 50 percent is a whole lot better then the biggets pansy in the NBA in Devin Harris.

Do Mavs fans actually think they'll miss Devin Harris?
I think it's a great trade for the Mavs. Devin Harris is a promising future star but his growth rate as a point guard has been improving at a snail-turtle speed pace. He may be fast but he seems pretty weak and undersized when finishing plays. I would consider Monta Ellis and Leandro Barbosa to be better NBA players (at this point in their career) than Devin and they've came into the league around the same time (Barbosa 2003, Devin 2004, Monta 2005). The Mavs are pretty much at the point in the season where their game was getting stale so they needed a special kind of player to breathe new life into their offense. What better player can you think of who fits the bill better than Jason Kidd? The man is a walking triple double and he has been known to make players around him better than they actually are. Has anyone even heard about Kerry Kittles after he left Kidd's side and was traded to the Clippers? It's true that Kidd's outside shot sucks and he couldn't throw a ball in the ocean from a boat if his life depended on it but the Mavs have plenty of great shooters (Terry, Howard, Dirk, Eddie Jones, etc) to compensate for his downside. This deal does mortgage their future by trading Harris but it's not like Dirk or Terry are getting any younger.

I like this trade for the Mavs because it takes some of the pressure off Dirk and Terry, whom I don't think: like to / or are very capable of handling the playoff pressure all the time. Kidd is a playoff tested veteran who has taken his team to the NBA Finals twice (even though, it was in the Eastern conference but it's still a worthy accomplishment worth noting regardless) and a proven leader. Many fans are still contemplating what would it have been like if Steve Nash never left Dallas. Ever since the Mavs lost Nash, they seemed to loose an intrinsic part of their game. Well, now they gain a player who once mentored the 2-Time MVP in Phoenix and is a better defender, but not as great of an outside shooter. This trade is only going to make the West even more tougher to compete. My Golden State Warriors are 11 games over .500 and they are fighting tooth and nail to just hold onto the 8th playoff seed in the Western Conference. It's going to be a dog fight just to get the playoffs in the West, let alone get to the NBA Finals so yes, the Mavs do need Jason Kidd to get to that next level.
Reply:Well the Mavs are taking a chance to win it all in the next year or two. Face is the Mavs werent going to win with there current team so they needed a change to help boost them into that level.

I think D Harris will be great in the Nets he will finally be able to shine on a team that needs help. He had to share PG duties in Dallas with Terry and now he can run the ballclub himself. He will probably struggle playing on a losing team but he should be alright.
Reply:harris is stilll good buh fans will lke kidd better
Reply:uhhh yea. harris is a bigger offensive threat, kidd cant shoot well or score. harris is faster and can guard better. kidd is old and is past his prime. harris has a bright future, kidd is nearing retirement. every thinks kidd will continue to get triple doubles? no way, this is the west, not the east. its much harder in the west. dallas getting kidd doesnt make them instant finalists. in fact, dallas doesnt really get that much better since they lost diop which means dampier has to go against all the western bigs by himself in the playoffs. good luck erick.
Reply:both teams made good trades. the nets will benifit more in the future with harris
Reply:yes, he is gonna to be good in NJ
Reply:Not after they get Kidd. He is still a superstar.
Reply:Devin Harris has the speed to give Tim Duncan and the Spurs fits

what can Jason Kidd do if he doesn't have a whole lot of athletic finishers on the team?

In 02/03 Kidd had Kenyon Martin, Kerry Kittles and Richard Jefferson

Last few years he had Antoine Wright, Vince Carter, Richard Jefferson and now Sean Williams to run with

who's gonna run the break with Jason Kidd? Only Josh Howard that is it

the rest are pantsies who'd much rather park near the 3 point line

This is a bad bad trade

Jason Kidd is not at his best in half court and the Mavs don't have post up players who can help Kidd out either
Reply:Not until Kidd can't walk in 3 years, but surely not til then!
