Beginner planter?

Hi, I am a beginner planter and was wondering what time I should start planting some flowers in pots? April May?I looking for something simple to start out with such as marigolds and pansies? Hopefully I'll have a green thumb! Thanks!

Beginner planter?
Start planting when the overnight lows aren't below the mid 40's. Both marigolds and pansies are good to start with and maybe some petunias. Use a good potting soil, miracle grow moisture lock is good. Remember to keep them watered and plenty of sunshine. To keep them blooming pick off the spent blooms. Good luck and enjoy.
Reply:Marigolds are perfect beginner plants. You can plant them in pots and keep them inside near a sunny window til the weather permits you to put them outside. Just keep the soil moist not wet.
Reply:pansies are cool weather plants...unless they hav plenty of plants shading them and plenty of water the heat will kill them out......marigolds are good, verbena, miniature rosebush, asparaghus fern, spider lily aka airplane plant, canna's if you get a big enough pot because the tuber can grow quite large..also cactus..i keep my cactus inside from oct/nov until april than back on the deck they go....not much water required and they love the heat! there are also cactus that bloom with tiny blooms all over them in between the prickly spiny part
Reply:Check with a garden center in your area-Also you must consider where the pots will be-shade,sun,have them help you select easy to grow plants to get you started-A good garden center is a wealth of info-Also you need to know if you want annuals or perennials Good gardening to you It is such a great past time.
Reply:April is good . Try some kind of daisy or marigold. Pansys are good but they like alot of shade.I'd plant them soon.
